BOWTIE LAUNCHES CHICKENS MAGAZINE
Source: BowTie Inc. news release

BowTie, Inc., the world's largest publisher of pet, animal and lifestyle magazines and websites, is proud to announce the release of the premiere issue of Chickens magazine, the essential resource for poultry keepers. Chickens features news, tips and in-depth articles to help the novice as well as experienced poultry keeper.

"What once was commonplace on most farms and in city backyards is finding a new generation of people who want to reclaim their attachment to nature and become more sustainable," says editor Roger Sipe.

"In the 1980s and 1990s, yuppies and suburbanites wouldn't dare be seen with coops outside their homes. But with the turn of the century much of the nation has gotten beyond that mentality. It's not about the look of the car you drive but about how many miles per gallon it gets. It's about being practical and getting back to the basics. How much more basic can you get than providing your family with food from right outside your backdoor?" said Sipe.

Chickens is a comprehensive resource with information on a wide variety of poultry, while focusing on the common backyard chicken. Topics covered include product information, breed profiles and poultry keeping tips. Articles in the premiere issue include:

-- How to hatch a brooding plan
-- The life stages and development of an egg
-- Protecting the flock from predators and bad weather

Chickens hits newsstands on Feb. 23, 2010, and will be available at magazine retailers including Barnes & Noble, Borders, Hastings and other locations where fine publications are sold.
