RETIRED DUPONT PIONEER MARKETER WRITES BOOK ON IOWA PULITZER PRIZE WINNER
Source: Jerry Harrington

Jerry Harrington, retired DuPont Pioneer marketing public relations manager, has published a book on an Iowa Pulitzer Prize-winning newspaper editor in the 1930s. The book, "Crusading Iowa Journalist Verne Marshall: Exposing Graft and the 1936 Pulitzer Prize," is now available from The History Press of Arcadia Publishing .

Verne Marshall, editor of the Cedar Rapids Gazette, was an aggressive investigative reporter whose exposes on an illegal gambling syndicate and state government kick-backs resulted in the indictment of nearly 50 individuals and a high-profile graft trial of Iowa's attorney general.

Harrington was marketing public relations manager for DuPont Pioneer for 16 years before retiring in 2014. Prior to that, he worked at CMF&Z, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; Bader Rutter, Milwaukee, Wis.; and Rumrill-Hoyt, Rochester, N.Y.
