The growth of agbiosciences startups in Indiana is on the rise. As a result, AgriNovus Indiana and Purdue Foundry are hosting a FoundryX showcase event on March 23, 2017 to introduce several innovative agbiosciences startup companies in Indiana. These companies are developing technology to support plant growth, detect e.coli and other pathogens, and provide healthier food ingredients.

"In the two years since AgriNovus formed, we went from tracking just a few agbiosciences startups to now working with over 30 early stage companies in the sector with nearly 20 of them having a connection to Purdue University," Beth Bechdol, president and CEO of AgriNovus Indiana, said.

Featured entrepreneurs will share their technology and products in a pitch-style presentation to an audience of agbiosciences influencers and investors. Other partners from TechPoint and Launch Fishers will describe Indiana's formidable innovation landscape and the interconnectedness of our tech and agbiosciences sectors.

The showcase event, to be held at Launch Fishers, will feature five agbioscience entrepreneurs. In partnership with Purdue Foundry, those selected startups are excelling in the agbiosciences sector in human food and nutrition, high-tech agriculture, plant sciences and animal food and nutrition.

"We have a global issue to solve relative to the number of people that have to be fed in the coming decades," Greg Deason, senior vice president of Purdue Research Foundation and director of innovation and entrepreneurship of Purdue University, said. "What I find so exciting is that these featured startups have diverse technologies that can help with this challenge."

The showcase will feature the following entrepreneurs:
•David Rowe - Choco Finesse
•Kelvin Okamoto - Gen3Bio
•Scott Massey - HydroGrow
•Larry Blaszczak - Teichos Laboratories
•Bruce Applegate - Phicrobe

Other speakers will be John Wechsler, founder of Launch Fishers, and John McDonald, chief executive officer of ClearObject and TechPoint board member.

"It is exciting to see this event demonstrate that Indiana's technology and agbioscience sectors are working together and designing future solutions to some of our greatest challenges," McDonald said. "This showcase is a great example of the collaborative efforts taking place in Indiana among organizations like TechPoint, Launch Fishers, Purdue and AgriNovus."

The showcase event is free to attendees and will take place at Launch Fishers at 12175 Visionary Way, Fishers, IN 46038, on March 23, 2017. Sponsors of the event include AgriNovus Indiana and Purdue Foundry.
