Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) reports:

In a fast-paced world of volatile market conditions, more and more producers are realizing that marketing matters - and that having a solid marketing plan is vitally important to their bottom line. Now producers have the opportunity to learn from the experts at DTN/The Progressive Farmer. DTN University brings its popular Master Marketing course "Marketing through Mayhem" to AG CONNECT Expo & Summit 2013's Preview Day, January 29, 2013, at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri.

Since 2010, more than 200 producers have participated in DTN's widely recognized program. "Marketing through Mayhem" is for intermediate-level grain and soybean marketers who want to expand their skills beyond simple forward cash contracts. Participants will benefit from learning about documentation to secure the best rates and terms for their credit lines. The goal is to provide producers with the tools they need to implement an effective, written marketing plan for the year ahead and to incorporate this plan with their crop insurance purchases.

"Extreme drought conditions have produced widely varying crop yields this year," said Greg Horstmeier, editor-in-chief for DTN/The Progressive Farmer. "Attending DTN University at AG CONNECT will give producers confidence in an uncertain market and unparalleled access to industry experts."

"AG CONNECT is a platform and industry gathering place for agriculture so holding DTN University at AG CONNECT saves time and money for attendees and enhances the value of the show," said Sara Truesdale Mooney, show director. "Producers will be able to take away and implement good ideas and programs for successful crop marketing."

DTN senior analyst Darin Newsom will discuss sales strategies focused on the fundamentals of market monitoring and managing trading options in today's volatile market. Newsom has more than 20 years of experience analyzing commodities markets and developing risk-management strategies. His market commentary has been featured on CNBC's Morning Call and The Wall Street Journal.

Other speakers include Diana Klemme, vice president of the Grain Service Corporation and a member of the National Grain and Feed Association's Risk Management Committee, who will speak about advantages and disadvantages of hybrid cash contracts; and Mark Welch, extension economist at Texas A&M University and grain marketing specialist, who will share his guidelines for a preliminary marketing plan and marketing styles over the past decade.

AG CONNECT Expo & Summit will take place January 29-31, 2013, at the Kansas City Convention Center in Kansas City, Missouri. There's no other event with the wide-ranging expertise and long-term implications of AG CONNECT Expo & Summit. Attendees can meet face-to-face with Masters & Mavericks of all kinds - from tried-and-true experts to blue-sky innovators - and take away the solid information to help them lead, grow and transform their operations.

Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) is show owner and producer; it operates all its trade shows for the benefit of participants and has a reputation of delivering measureable value. AEM designed AG CONNECT to be the global trade show in North America for innovative producers and other agribusiness decision makers seeking cutting-edge technology and information.
