Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) of Iowa announced that Bratney Companies has achieved the platinum level of ABC's Safety Training and Evaluation Process (STEP) program.

"At Bratney, one of our core values is our commitment to safety with respect for human life above all else at all times," said Peter Bratney, CEO of Bratney Companies. "We are truly honored to receive this reward because it is a great reflection of our ongoing safety efforts."

STEP was established in 1989 by the ABC National Environment, Health & Safety Committee to assist ABC member contractors in evaluating and improving corporate safety practices and recognize outstanding safety training efforts.

"ABC's goal is to send each worker home safely to his or her family at the end of the day," said Michael D. Bellaman, ABC National President and CEO.

STEP awards are presented annually in six categories: Participant, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum and Diamond. Each year, more than 2,000 contractors of various sizes participate in the STEP program.

"Bratney Companies has proven its dedication to that goal by using the STEP program to evaluate and build upon their safety initiatives in order to truly become safety leaders for the industry," Bellaman said. "I am proud to recognize Bratney Companies for their ongoing commitment to creating the safest work environment possible for their employees."
