BrownfieldAgNews reports:

The National Cattlemen's Beef Association (NCBA) has formed a Youth Task Force. Donny Lawson, President of the Indiana Beef Cattle Association (IBCA) says they're targeting youth ages 8 to 21, looking for ways to get them involved in more ways during the NCBA Convention.

"And make sure they have what we're calling, 'a life changing experience,' when they come to that convention," Lawson said. "We want to make sure they want to come back."

A challenge is when the NCBA Convention is held, which is during the school year, Lawson says the Task Force is looking for ways they can still interact with students. And while it's a little easier for college students to attend, Lawson says they need to provide educational opportunities.

"They are that target audience that we want to make sure that when they come they want to be part of the Young Producers Council and keep moving up in leadership," said Lawson. "We have to keep fostering those relationships with our young people."

The NCBA Youth Task Force hopes to have recommendations to the NCBA Executive Committee during the annual meeting in February.
