BrownfieldAgNews reports:

The American Farm Bureau presented its Distinguished Service to Agriculture Award yesterday. Dr. Richard Crowder and Dr. Kenneth Quinn were honored.

Dr. Crowder has more than 40 years of experience in the agriculture industry. From January 2006 to May 2007 he served as U.S. chief agriculture negotiator and from May 2007 to April 2008 he was the senior advisor to the U.S. trade representative. AFBF president Bob Stallman says, "Dr. Crowder is a true ambassador of agriculture, having worked to better opportunities for farmers and ranchers in trade, biotechnology, and marketing agriculture products."

He was nominated by the Illinois Farm Bureau.

Dr. Quinn is the former US ambassador to the Kingdom of Cambodia and has served as the president of the World Food Prize Foundation since January 2000. Under Dr. Quinn's direction, the World Food Prize has expanded to now include the World Food Prize Laureate Award, the "Borlaug Dialogue" international symposium, and the Global Youth Institute.

"Dr. Quinn exemplifies the genuine meaning of humanitarianism," Stallman says. "His work at the World Food Prize helps to advance the quality, quantity, and availability of food throughout the world."

Dr. Quinn was nominated by the Iowa Farm Bureau.
