The North Dakota Soybean Council and NDSU Extension encourage all soybean farmers, crop consultants and industry to attend the "Herbicide Resistance Workshop" to be held at the Carrington Research Extension Center on February 27, 2013 beginning at 10:00 a.m. with registration.

The featured speaker is Dr. Phil Stahlman from Kansas State University. His featured presentation is titled, "Weeds Revenge: Resistance to Glypohosate and Other Tricks". Dr. Stahlman is one of the leading experts on the issue of glyphosate resistant weeds and their management. Glyphosate resistant kochia is a huge problem in Kansas and was first confirmed in North Dakota in 2011.

In 2012, it was confirmed to exist in most counties between the Red River Valley and Highway 3. Without proper management of glyphosate resistant kochia, common ragweed, waterhemp and horsetail in soybean fields, reduction in yields and profits will result.

Brian Foster, Centrol Crop Consulting, will give and update on what he is seeing locally for glyphosate resistant weeds and their impact.

Jack Brodshaug, Monsanto, will give an update on "The Roundup Ready Plus Systema and Dicamba Tolerant Soybeans". Dr. Mike Ostlie of the Carrington Research Center will discuss "Kocia Konundrum: Saline Seeps".

Completing the program is Brian Jenks, North Central Research Station in Minot, will speak about "Crop and Herbicide Diversity: Keys to Managing Resistance".

This is an all-star line-up of experts in the area of herbicide resistance. Dr. Stahlman is experienced in the issue of herbicide resistance and its impact on crops and profitability. In addition, this program incorporates all the areas of herbicide concern including local impact, new technology, and management.

Don't miss this rare opportunity to learn at the "Herbicide Resistance Workshop", which will be held at the Carrington Research Extension Center on February 27th beginning at 10:00 a.m. No pre-registration is required and all meals and materials are included free of charge.
