The 2013 AgTexas Tractor Drive will be welcomed back to Lubbock at a special Finish Line Event to be held on the Texas Tech University Campus beginning at 4 p.m. on November 2nd.

The event will be held prior to the Oklahoma State/Texas Tech Football Game. The general public is invited to attend the event and celebration of this successful fundraising program.

The Tractor Drive, which began on August 16th, has traveled over 1,000 miles and has visited rural communities across 23 counties to increase awareness of rural Texas food insecurity and to support the efforts of FFA Chapters raising funds for the Texas Food Bank Network and their local food pantries. A total of 32 FFA Chapters and over 2,600 students have participated in this successful fundraising program.

The Finish Line Event will be held at the AgTexas Farm Credit Services tailgating area located in the RV commuter lot (C17) just west of the United Spirit Center. Students from the TTU Agriculture Education and Communications Department will be canvassing the tailgating areas for donations to the Texas Food Bank Network.

Dr. M. Duane Nellis, President of TTU, will welcome the Drive to campus and express the importance of eliminating hunger in Texas. Following Dr. Nellis' remarks, Mitchell Harris, CEO - AgTexas Farm Credit Services, will announce the total funds raised and present a check to the Texas Food Bank Network.

In addition, Mitchell Harris will announce the winning FFA Chapter that raised the most funds on a per-member basis. The winning Chapter will receive the John Deere 5045 Tractor that was used in the Drive.

The 2013 AgTexas Tractor Drive features a John Deere Tractor that visited rural communities in a 23-county area in Western and Central Texas. The Drive was established to raise awareness of food insecurity in Rural Texas while promoting FFA Chapter events raising funds for the Texas Food Bank Network.

Thirty-two chapters pledged their community service activities towards helping food banks under the program sponsored by the AgTexas Farm Credit Association. The Drive supported the Feeding the World - Starting at Home initiative for FFA Chapters across the country.
