In recognition of World Food Day, employees of Archer Daniels Midland Company (NYSE: ADM) around the globe donated the equivalent of 271,715 pounds (123.25 metric tons) of food to community food banks, pantries and soup kitchens in ADM communities worldwide. The donations were coordinated through the company's ADM Cares program.

"As a company, we serve vital needs for customers around the world every single day, and events like World Food Day help employees make a difference for families in their own hometown."

For the past five years, ADM has coordinated donations to local charities on World Food Day, and this year ADM employees gave more than ever. In 2012, ADM colleagues donated the equivalent of 245,453 pounds (111.3 metric tons), and in 2011, the total was 133,930 pounds (67 metric tons).

About World Food Day

The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations celebrates World Food Day each year on October 16, the day on which the organization was founded in 1945. World Food Day helps to strengthen international and national efforts in the fight against hunger, malnutrition and poverty, and to draw attention to achievements in food and agricultural development.

ADM Cares is a social investment program that directs funds to initiatives and organizations that drive meaningful social, economic and environmental progress worldwide.
