Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) reports:

AEM's latest quarterly survey of members who manufacture agricultural equipment revealed that respondents remained optimistic about the outlook for orders over the next 12 months.

The AEM North America Ag Equipment Industry Trends Report for Q3 2013 showed that for the next 12 months, the outlook for agricultural equipment as indicated by the net rising index was +40.7, down only slightly from +44.7 in Q2 2013.

"Orders have some up and downs, but overall are ahead of last year," one survey respondent wrote.

In addition, the Q3 2013 net rising index for the Unit Volume of Demand year-over-year came in at +37, up from +20.6 in Q2 2013.

"We are fairly optimistic as to the first half of 2014," one respondent said.

The acceleration of demand is welcome news after a year or more of relatively anemic growth, said Benjamin Duyck, AEM market analyst. More detailed and comprehensive data is available to member companies who completed the survey, he said.

Survey questionnaires for the Q4 2013 North America Industry Trends Report will be sent out in late January. To participate, contact Benjamin Duyck (, tel: 414-298-4154).
