Today, the U.S. Senate passed a new five-year Farm Bill by a bipartisan vote of 68-32. The bill, which previously passed the House on January 29, 2014, will now be sent to the President to sign into law. Following the vote, Association of Equipment Manufacturers (AEM) President Dennis Slater issued the following statement:

"On behalf of America's equipment manufacturers, I thank Members of both the House of Representatives and the Senate for working together to pass a much-needed and long awaited five-year Farm Bill. American agriculture is a large part of our economy, and those directly and indirectly employed in the industry depend on the certainty of a long-term Farm Bill. I am pleased Congress took action to protect America's agriculture industry and U.S. jobs.

"This bipartisan bill implements important reforms for the future of farm programs, while maintaining a solid safety net that American agriculture depends on. I urge President Obama to quickly sign this bill into law and provide agriculture equipment manufacturers the opportunity to continue to invest and grow in the United States."
