Novariant, Inc has been honored with the prestigious 2014 AE50 Outstanding Innovations Award for its SimpleSteer™ tablet-based auto-steering solution. Presentation of the award took place at the recent American Society of Agricultural and Biological Engineers (ASABE) Agricultural Equipment Technology Conference in Louisville, Kentucky.

Deemed one of the year's most innovative designs in engineering products or systems for the food and agriculture industries sector, SimpleSteer™ is a revolutionary high-precision auto-steering display solution for precision agriculture that runs on a consumer tablet device. The SimpleSteer software solution from Novariant converts a consumer tablet into a wireless command post for advanced auto-steering operation of tractors, combines, and other farm vehicles.

SimpleSteer supports the Novariant's high-precision controllers such as GeoSteerTM and ECU-S1TM and provides interface support for hydraulic, CAN, mechanical & steer-ready vehicles. Novariant offers SimpleSteer as an affordable easy-to-use auto-steer display alternative to complement its current suite of precision steering solutions that is available through select VAR Partners.

"SimpleSteer is the world's first tablet-based precision auto-steering display solution. Novariant is pleased that ASABE recognizes the breakthrough technology of SimpleSteer as a cost-effective and easy-to-use display alternative for auto steering applications" says Mark Bittner, Sr. VP Global Sales, Service and Marketing of Novariant, Inc.

"SimpleSteer makes it possible for farmers to use their own tablets for hands-free steering with precision accuracy and repeatability through Wi-Fi connectivity between the tablet and Novariant's proven suite of precision steering solutions."

Companies from around the world submit entries to the annual AE50 competition and up to 50 of the best products are chosen by a panel of international engineering experts. The judges select products that will best advance engineering for the food and agriculture industries.

The SimpleSteer Tablet Auto-Steering Solution is featured in the January/February 2014 special AE50 issue of ASABE's magazine Resource: Engineering & Technology for a Sustainable World.
