High Plains Journal reports:

Shauna Rumbaugh's appointment to High Plains Journal's newly created position of Web editor is the latest step in the publisher's digital push.

She has worked for High Plains Journal as a copy editor since 2010 and will now take a larger role in overseeing the company's Web presence.

"In order to reach the digital goals we have in place, we needed to grow our staff," said High Plains Journal publisher, Tom Taylor. "We are fortunate to have a talented editorial department and [Rumbaugh] was an excellent fit due to her understanding of not only our company philosophy, but our standard."

High Plains Journal's Web push began in earnest in October 2012, when the publisher began releasing digital editions of its eponymous magazine as well as Midwest Ag Journal.

The next step will come in the second quarter of 2014, when a redesigned will be unveiled. The new site will contain improved features for boosting reader engagement.

Taylor is optimistic about the future. "The next step is our Web product, and we have made the commitment to not only our readers but our advertisers to change and improve the digital aspects of our product."
