DairyBusiness Communications announces Brenda Gilbertson and Julie Ashton will be taking on expanded roles, effective immediately, for DairyBusiness media. Gilbertson will be DairyBusiness East Editor and Ashton will focus her efforts on DairyBusiness Weekly as Editor.

Gilbertson and Ashton have served part-time roles on the livestock sales team for HolsteinWorld and, with their editorial background and experience, they provide a great fit as additions to the DairyBusiness content team.

Gilbertson hails from Hollandale, WI, where she and her husband, Erik, operate Gildale Holsteins with her father-in-law, Mark. Brenda and Erik have two daughters, Makenna (3 years) and Elise (9 months).

Gilbertson has a life-long passion rooted in the dairy industry. She was introduced at a young age to her family's farm, Cava-Lanes Holsteins in Reedsville, WI. Active in various agricultural organizations, she went on to study at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls and earned a degree in agricultural marketing communications and dairy science.

Through internships and her professional career, she has had experience working with A.I. organizations, an animal health company, a marketing agency and an agricultural regional publication. Most recently, Gilbertson was the North America marketing communications manager at ABS Global.

Ashton grew up in Hampshire, IL., where she was involved with her family's farm, Lindale Holsteins. After graduating with an animal science degree focused on ag communications from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, she worked as an Assistant Editor for the Jersey Journal in Reynoldsburg, Ohio.

From there, she moved back to the family farm and formed her own freelance company, Julie Lynn Designs, where she assisted dairy producers across the country with their marketing and advertising needs. Ashton is also Editor of the Illinois Holstein Association's quarterly magazine and is Promotions & Publications Chair for the upcoming 2015 National Holstein Convention, hosted by Illinois.

Gilbertson can be contacted via email: or phone: 608-514-2987. Ashton can be reached at or by phone: 815-766-0045.
