As the go-to resources for seed industry professionals across North America, Seed World and Germination continue to strengthen the magazines' editorial teams to better serve their readers with the addition of Julie Deering as editor.

"The seed industry is at the heart of innovation, making better use of technology and data," Deering says. "There's an enormous challenge that looms over the seed industry, but there has never been a more exciting time to be a part of the industry. I'm thrilled to join the Seed World and Germination teams and look forward serving their readers."

In this role, Deering (formerly Douglas) will lead the editorial direction and provide the execution that is required to maintain the publications' reputations as the leading source of information for the global seed industry. Deering previously served as managing editor for Top Producer and director of communications for the American Seed Trade Association.

"Julie's agricultural background and knowledge of the seed industry's inner workings greatly compliment our existing expertise," says Shawn Brook, publisher of Seed World and Germination. "We are thrilled to bring her on board."

Based out of Montgomery City, Mo., Deering will have easy access to those seed companies located in the Midwest and she is just a short flight from major centres. "This will only further our participation and representation at industry events," Brook says.

Deering's responsibilities are effective immediately. She can be reached at and 1-877-710-3222, ext. 815.
