BrownfieldAgNews reports:

The largest dairy farm in Canada is the latest to deal with an undercover video. Mercy for Animals Canada gave a video to the British Colombian SPCA on June 2nd which shows employees mistreating dairy cows at Chilliwack Cattle Sales.

The video was shot between April 30th and May 30th.

The dairy is owned by the Kooyman (COY-man) family; Jeff Kooyman says they were made aware of the whole thing last Friday, June 6th.

The farm originally suspended eight employees pending an investigation. The eight were fired on Monday. They could face animal abuse charges.

The Kooymans issued a statement Monday saying: "These allegations are extremely serious and we are devastated by the thought that animals in our care have been harmed."

It goes on to say they are working with the BC SPCA and regulatory authorities to do a thorough investigation and "will be taking any and all steps necessary to assure that no such incident takes place on our family farm in the future."

The 3,500-cow farm is about an hour east of Vancouver and about a half-hour north of the U.S. border.
