RFD-TV/RURAL TV ANNOUNCE SUPPORT FOR HOWARD G. BUFFETT FOUNDATION'S "INVEST AN ACRE" CAMPAIGN
Source: RFD-TV/RURAL TV news release

The national launch of the RFD-TV/RURAL TV promotional campaign in support of the Howard G. Buffett Foundation's "Invest An Acre" was celebrated yesterday with a planting of the first-ever two acres on a small farm located near Elkhorn, Nebraska.

One acre of corn and one acre of soybeans were symbolically planted by RFD-TV and RURAL TV to represent the support of the American farmer for the Buffett initiative in conjunction with ADM and Feeding America. Howard W. Buffett and Patrick Gottsch, Founder/President Rural Media Group, Inc., were on hand for the ceremony, and each drove the tractor during the planting.

"Invest An Acre" is the first wide-scale effort to organize U.S. farmers to support hunger relief by donating a portion of their own crop production through ADM after harvest.

The proceeds are then delivered to Feeding America for distribution into that local farmer's community, with the Howard G. Buffett Foundation underwriting 100% of the costs.

"With these two acres, RFD-TV and RURAL TV will document the procedure from start-to-finish in order to show farmers nationwide how easily the 'Invest An Acre' program works," stated Patrick Gottsch.

"All of the assets of our rural television channels will be dedicated to supporting Howard and his partners in this effort now, and for many years to come."

In addition to weekly updates on the crop's progress on the network's news and on-line, a one-hour "live" program is slated to originate from the Illinois farm of Howard G. Buffett on August 13 at 8:00 p.m. (EDT) to unveil final details of the program.

To kickoff 2013, a 75' float with over 25 classic tractors in this coming year's Tournament of Roses Parade will be commissioned by RFD-TV/RURAL TV to further advance exposure for "Invest An Acre" to a world-wide television audience on New Year's Day.

"This unique partnership brings together the leading hunger relief organization, a global giant in agricultural processing, and the U.S. farmer in a way that can significantly reduce hunger," said Howard G. Buffett. "The power of RFD-TV and RURAL TV to take this program directly into the farmer's living room will create tremendous momentum throughout the country from day one."

RFD-TV and RURAL TV are currently distributed into over 58 million cable/DBS homes. Over 71% of all farmers and ranchers watch the channels on a regular basis, with in excess of 10 million homes consistently tuning in weekly according to Nielsen measurement numbers. Overall audience numbers for RFD-TV are up over 7% versus the same period last year.
