SENATOR WITHDRAWS BILL TO REPEAL ETHANOL INDUSTRY SUBSIDY
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

Senator Tom Coburn (R-OK) has withdrawn his amendment to a Small Business Bill to repeal the ethanol blender's tax credit-VEETC.

Coburn pulled the amendment after Iowa Senator Chuck Grassley and other Corn Belt Senators blocked a vote on it. Grassley criticized the effort, saying "it's very counterproductive for Senators from Big Oil country to single out energy from American agriculture-renewable energy."

Coburn said he's not giving up and will continue to seek a vote on the proposal.
