NAT'L CATTLEMEN'S BEEF ASSN SAYS CHINA TALKS MOVING ALONG QUICKLY
BrownfieldAgNews reports:

National Cattlemen's Beef Association president Craig Uden says beef trade negotiations between the U.S. and China seem to be moving quickly.

"The trade team is actually over in China as we speak," Uden says, "and what they're doing is trying to put the meat on the bones as far as some of the rules and regulations that are going to be in place-some of the testing and things like that to finalize the movement so we can open up beef into China."

Uden says China is a great opportunity, but he says it's important to take care of existing customers.

"Because today, when we talk about NAFTA or talk about Japan, those are three of our largest trading partners and we need to make sure we don't neglect working on those issues," Uden says.

Brownfield spoke with Uden Wednesday at the Nebraska Cattlemen's midyear meeting in West Point, Nebraska. Along with trade, he discussed other issues of importance to cattlemen, including regulations and immigration.
