REPUBLICAN GOVERNORS MEETING WITH VP PENCE TO DISCUSS NAFTA Dec. 14, 2017
Politico reports:
The next major marker in the behind-the-scenes effort to impress upon the Trump administration the dangers of withdrawing from NAFTA is a meeting at the White House today involving the Republican governors of Michigan, Arkansas, Iowa and Tennessee and Vice President Mike Pence.
The governors - Rick Snyder, Asa Hutchinson, Kim Reynolds and Bill Haslam, respectively - are planning to apply more pressure on the administration by discussing the potential effects on state economies.
Last month, at a summit of Republican governors in Austin, Tex., the normally unflappable Pence appeared to be caught off guard by the level of concern state leaders expressed over a possible NAFTA withdrawal, an industry source told Pro Trade's Adam Behsudi.
