VP PENCE: NEW NAFTA AGREEMENT COULD WRAP UP WITHIN WEEKS Apr. 16, 2018
Agri-Pulse reports:
Vice President Mike Pence said Saturday that he believes the U.S., Mexico and Canada could wrap up negotiations to rewrite the North American Free Trade Agreement "within the next several weeks." "It's not done yet," said Pence in press briefing during the Summit of Americas in Lima, Peru, where he met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and Mexican President Enrique Pena Nieto. Pence stressed there were still issues unresolved, but also claimed a strong optimism that a deal will be struck soon. Meanwhile, Canadian Foreign Affairs Minister Chrystia Freeland, Mexican Economy Secretary Ildefonso Guajardo and Deputy U.S. Trade Representative C.J. Mahoney met on the sidelines of the summit in Lima, according to a report from the Toronto Star.
