HOARD'S DAIRYMAN TO DELIVER 100TH WEBINAR
Hoard's Dairyman reports:

Presenter: Geoff Dahl, University of Florida
The award-winning series continues a long-time tradition of educating dairy producers and industry stakeholders.

For more than 130 years, Hoard's Dairyman has been the most trusted resource in the dairy industry. Founder W.D. Hoard began the magazine in 1885 as a "journal dedicated to dairy farming," and today the publication helps producers run their operations more efficiently and effectively. Distributed in 60 countries, 20 times per year, to more than 52,000 subscribers, Hoard's Dairyman is truly "The National Dairy Farm Magazine."

Over the years, Hoard's Dairyman has expanded their educational offerings. This includes sharing timely and relevant information on hoards.com, sending a weekly e-newsletter, growing the largest social media following in the industry, publishing daily blogs, and building a robust bookstore.

In addition to all of those resources, in 2011, Hoard's Dairyman launched a free monthly webinar series. Steve Larson, managing editor at that time, said, "Hoard's Dairyman has always looked for ways to add to our platform of educational tools and resources. Webinars are another opportunity to utilize the relationships we have with authors and experts from across the industry and share that expertise with producers of every type and size - beyond the pages of our magazine."

Mike Hutjens, a dairy science professor from the University of Illinois, was also a catalyst behind the webinar series. "Mike is an enthusiastic communicator and educator that has years of experience utilizing technology in adult education. From the beginning, we knew that teaming up with Mike and the University of Illinois was the right move," said Larson.

"After eight years, the webinars are still going strong," said Brian Knox, president of W.D. Hoard and Sons Company. "This February, our series marks a milestone as we will produce our 100th webinar."

Knox continued, "Webinars give us the opportunity to be even more responsive to issues in the dairy industry. The topics we cover can truly be put into practice by today's dairy farmers."

He also pointed to the growing number of live attendees who tune in from across the country and around the globe. " We are breaking records and reaching people all around the world, and many in real time," he said.

The typical audience for the webinars includes dairy producers, veterinarians, educators, and consultants. Those who can't tune in to the live webinars, which take place at noon Central time on the second Monday of each month, can view all past webinars at hoards.com/webinars.

The webinars have been recognized by the American Agricultural Editors Association (AAEA), earning first, second, and third place honors in the "webinars" category several years in a row. "We obviously greatly appreciate this recognition from our peers," said Knox. "It further proves the value we are able to provide to our audience."

You are invited to join us as we present our 100th webinar on Monday, February 11, 2019, at noon Central time. Please register at hoards.com/webinars.

The speaker for our February webinar will be Geoff Dahl, a professor from the University of Florida. He will share current data about the impact heat stress has on dry cows and their future offspring.

To celebrate this milestone webinar, we will be awarding a few lucky live participants with some of our very own Hoard's Dairyman Farm Creamery cheese. Didn't know we were making and selling cheese? Learn more at hoardscreamery.com.

This webinar is made possible by our sponsor TechMix.
