Feb. 4, 2019 Agri-Pulse reports: President Donald Trump, who will be defending his trade policy in his State of the Union message this week, insists he's optimistic about the ongoing negotiations with China. "We have a good chance to make a deal," he said in an interview with CBS' Face the Nation that aired Sunday. Meanwhile, Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue expects a U.S. delegation to return to China later this month to continue the talks ahead of a meeting between Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping. Trump is already planning to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in late February and he may decide to use the same trip to meet with Xi. Perdue says last week's negotiations in Washington included some preliminary discussions of enforcement mechanisms. Tweet |
