Minneapolis, MN - DTN, a leading data, analytics and technology company, announced today that the company's highly-accurate agriculture weather forecasts and data will be available through Microsoft's Azure FarmBeats. Agribusinesses leveraging FarmBeats will be able to access real-time weather information from the DTN global weather network.

"Few factors in farming are as integral to success, yet carry as much variability and unpredictability, as the weather. We are delivering our operational intelligence through the Azure FarmBeats platform to ensure farmers have access to dynamic weather data within real-time decision tools. This helps farmers make critical decisions based on highly-accurate and hyperlocal information," said John Teeple, senior vice president-agriculture at DTN. "Microsoft's commitment to working with partners like DTN is helping drive digital transformation in the global agriculture industry."

Microsoft Azure FarmBeats software integrates sensor- and satellite-derived data with domain knowledge of the agriculture sector and AI-based modelling and analytics techniques. This new solution is a purpose-built, industry-specific accelerator to tackle data-driven farming problems.

DTN delivers farmers and agribusinesses the most accurate temperature and precipitation forecasts from the industry's top meteorologists and agriculture analysts with data from the largest weather network and largest private weather company in the world. With the hyper-local precision weather forecasts supplied by DTN, growers and agribusinesses can make critical decisions based on reliable data.

Azure Farmbeats subscribers will have the ability to receive accurate, reliable data for their location to help make the critical decisions that affect yield and the bottom line. With the industry's largest, most accurate weather technology network with more than 53,000 stations and 426,000 observation points globally, DTN delivers the most comprehensive and detailed weather insights and precision agricultural data. The hourly and daily field-level forecasts help farmers make agile decisions to respond to the latest weather and market changes.

"We are excited to integrate DTN's weather services with Azure FarmBeats," said Ravi Krishnaswamy, CVP, Azure Global Industry, Microsoft. "DTN's integration with Azure FarmBeats will provide real-time, accurate weather forecasts, data, and analysis to better optimize crop yield,
increase ROI through operational efficiency, and thus help farmers cope with meeting the food production demand, which is said to double by 2050. Our partnership will deliver such breakthrough capabilities that will empower producers and agriculture businesses to harness the power of IoT, Cloud, and AI to maximize production and help feed the world," he added.

In addition, Azure FarmBeats leverages Microsoft's efforts in using TV white space for connectivity, offering an opportunity bring the most accurate weather insights to farmers who often don't have great internet connectivity.
