SOIL HEALTH INSTITUTE BEGINS TO IDENTIFY TRUE COST: BENEFITS OF SOIL HEALTH Jul. 31, 2020 Source: Soil Health Institute news release
The session, scheduled for 1:35 Eastern Time, Friday, July 31, will outline a business case for soil health: • Identifying Costs and Benefits of Soil Health Management Systems; • Quantifying Economic Outcomes through Case Studies of Eight "Soil Health Successful Farmers;" and • Learning directly from three farmers with Dr. John Shanahan, SHI Project Manager - Agronomy. "At Cargill, agriculture is at the core of our business and how we'll ensure a safe, responsible and sustainable food system. We view agriculture as an opportunity, and it starts with soil health," says Mr. Sirolli. "Cargill supports investments in and the advancement of soil health best practice adoption as we believe it leads to long-term farmer prosperity and resiliency while delivering many interrelated environmental benefits, including reducing greenhouse gas emissions, improving water quality and increasing drought resiliency to name a few." The Soil Health Institute's 5th Annual Meeting, Soil Health: The Foundation for Regenerative Agriculture, is a two-day virtual event to advance the opportunity that improving soil health offers to address climate change, water quality, food production, biodiversity, and many other pressing issues.
