Oct. 14, 2021 Paulsen reports:
Paulsen has named Marcus Squier as President and CEO. The 16-year veteran of Paulsen has been part of the management team since 2013 and is now tasked with ensuring the company stays on course and at the forefront of marketing today. Sara Steever, president for the last seven years, will expand the focus on technology at Paulsen as its Chief Technology Officer. She leads a team that will grow and strengthen Paulsen's existing offerings to help clients target and connect with their audiences in new ways. Steever said Squier is a natural fit for his new role. "He's got the depth of experience that only comes through solving really difficult problems, rapid fire for 16 years. He knows how to manage those situations, and he can see where we need to go as an agency," she said. "He's got what it takes to be a great president and CEO." As for her own move, Steever said her transition to CTO allows her to "go back to where my heart is." Previously in her career, Steever was Paulsen's VP, Digital Services. "The influence of artificial intelligence and machine learning requires a concentrated effort in order to understand the agency's role in bringing that technology to our clients or to use internally." she said. "It will touch every aspect of what we do." Squier said the rapid pace of development of new technology and of capabilities in existing tools requires a dedicated focus. Clients cannot do it alone. "It's going to be impossible to stay up to speed and understand how this can help," he said. "We're going to have to help break that down. It's going to be wildly overwhelming." Steever is the right person to lead this effort. "Sara has a genuine passion for our industry and knows it inside and out," Squier said. "We know she will take this new challenge head on and do an amazing job guiding our team and clients." Squier speaks often about the importance of the entire management team at Paulsen in setting the direction for the organization. As President and CEO his responsibility is to make sure every department, every person stays on course to fulfill that direction. Paulsen has been a marketing leader for 70 years. Squier wants to ensure it remains so for the next 70 years by taking advantage of emerging technology and continuing to add new talent to complement the experience and institutional knowledge of Paulsen's marketing veterans. "Anybody can execute. Few can strategize and think through the challenge," Squier said. "That's why we're continuing to design and build an agency that's different from all others." Tweet |
