USDA REPORTS RECORD HIGH SOYBEAN, CORN CROPS IN 2021

U.S. farmers produced a record amount of soybeans in 2021.

The USDA says production of 4.435 billion bushels was up 5% from 2020, with a fractionally higher average yield at 51.4 bushels per acre and a 5% rise in harvested area to 86.332 million acres. In 2021, U.S. soybean production was 4.216 billion bushels with an average yield of 51 bushels per acre and harvested area of 82.603 million acres.

Corn production was 15.115 billion bushels, an increase of 7%, with a record large average yield of 177 bushels per acre and a 4% jump in harvested acreage to 85.388 million. In 2021, the U.S. corn crop was 14.112 billion bushels with an average yield of 171.4 bushels per acre and harvested area of 82.313 million acres.

The USDA's next set of supply and demand estimates is out February 9th.

Arkansas: Corn: 152.72 million bushels, compared to 111.32 million in 2020; average yield: 184 bushels per acre, unchanged from a year ago; harvested area: 830,000 acres, compared to 605,000 last year; Soybeans: 153.51 million bushels, compared to 144.2 million in 2020; average yield: 51 bushels per acre, compared to 51.5 a year ago; harvested area: 3.01 million acres, compared to 2.8 million last year

Illinois: Corn: 2.192 billion bushels, compared to 2.12 billion in 2020; average yield: 202 bushels per acre, compared to 191 a year ago; harvested area: 10.85 million acres, compared to 11.1 million last year; Soybeans: 672.64 million bushels, compared to 615 million in 2020; average yield: record 64 bushels per acre, compared to 60 a year ago; harvested area: 10.51 million acres, compared to 10.25 million last year

Indiana: Corn: 1.028 billion bushels, compared to 981.75 million in 2020; average yield: record 195 bushels per acre, compared to 187 a year ago; harvested area: 5.27 million acres, compared to 5.25 million last year; Soybeans: 335.58 million bushels, compared to 338.07 million in 2020; average yield: record 59.5 bushels per acre, compared to 59 a year ago; harvested area: 5.64 million acres, compared to 5.73 million last year

Iowa: Corn: 2.552 billion bushels, compared to 2.283 billion in 2020; average yield: record 205 bushels per acre, compared to 177 a year ago; harvested area: 12.45 million acres, compared to 12.9 million last year; Soybeans: 621.86 million bushels, compared to 505.98 million in 2020; average yield: record 62 bushels per acre, compared to 54 a year ago; harvested area: 10.03 million acres, compared to 9.37 million last year

Kansas: Corn: 750.6 million bushels, compared to 766.48 million in 2020; average yield: 139 bushels per acre, compared to 134 a year ago; harvested area: 5.4 million acres, compared to 5.72 million last year; Soybeans: 189.6 million bushels, compared to 194.75 million in 2020; average yield: 39.5 bushels per acre, compared to 41 a year ago; harvested area: 4.8 million acres, compared to 4.75 million last year
