1ST HALF: AGRI MARKETING'S STOCK INDEX DOWN SLIGHTLY, MUCH BETTER THAN GENERAL MARKETS

During the first half of 2022, Agri Marketing's Ag Stock Index finished the year down 4%. That compares to the Dow Jones Industrial Index down 15%, S&P 500 down 21% and NASDAQ down 25%.

The Agri Marketing Ag Stock Index is composed of a portfolio of 25 publicly traded companies with significant agricultural interests.

Since its inception on January 1, 2006, the Agri Marketing Ag Stock Index has gained 196%. That compares to the Dow's gain of 341%, the S&P 500's gain of 379% and NASDAQ's gain of 509%.

The five companies posting gains in 2022 were:

1. American Vanguard (crop protection) +38%

2. CF Industries (fertilizer) +21%

3. The Mosaic Co. (fertilizer) +20%

4. Bayer (crop protection/seed) +16%

5. Corteva (crop protection/seed) +19%

Those losing value in 2021 were:

1. BASF (crop protection/seed) (34%)

2. Trimble (equipment) (33%)

3. Zoetis (animal health) (28%)

4. CNH Industrial (farm machinery) (28%)

5. Alamo Group (farm machinery) (19%)

Others of interest

AGCO (9%), Deere & Co. (11%), Nutrien +6%, Valmont (9%)
