Memphis, Tennessee - At the 17th annual Conservation in Action Tour, Dr. Linda Prokopy, department head and professor at Purdue University, was honored with induction into the CTIC (Conservation Technology Information Center) Hall of Fame. Prokopy's dedication to advancing conservation agriculture and her contributions to the field have earned her this recognition as only the fifth conservation leader to ever receive this prestigious recognition from CTIC. Her research, more than 140 publications and commitment to sustainability are making a significant impact on the conservation community. As chair of Purdue's Department of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture, Dr. Prokopy plays a vital role in research across a wide range of agricultural topics. And as a professor in that department, she helps guide young scholars as a teacher, a mentor and an inspiration. Many of her former students are now professors or leaders themselves at institutions across the country and around the world. "I am honored to be inducted into the CTIC Hall of Fame," said Prokopy. "This recognition underscores the importance of our efforts in advancing conservation agriculture and the need for continued collaboration to address adaption challenges." The induction ceremony, held during the Conservation in Action Tour's social held in Memphis, provided a platform to celebrate Prokopy's achievements. The tour brought together more than 125 experts, policymakers, farmers and industry professionals to tour conservation efforts in Arkansas. "We are thrilled to recognize Linda Prokopy's contributions to conservation agriculture," said Ryan Heiniger, Executive Director of CTIC. "Her leadership and dedication have been instrumental in shaping sustainable farming practices and programs. We are proud to welcome her into the CTIC Hall of Fame." Currently, CTIC is working with Linda as one of more than 30 contributors to the Diverse Corn Belt Project, a multi-state exploration of ways to provide Midwestern farmers options beyond the corn and bean rotation. The multidisciplinary research project funded by a $10 million grant from the USDA's National Institute of Food and Agriculture will explore agriculture diversification at the farm level, market level, and landscape level.
