Dr. W. Dave Downey | West Lafayette, Ind. -- The Department of Agricultural Economics at Purdue University invites alumni, supporters and the agribusiness community to watch and share a newly released video created in support of the Dr. W. David Downey Chair in Agricultural Sales and Marketing.
This endowed chair sustains Purdue's leadership in agribusiness education and represents an opportunity to carry forward Dr. Downey's legacy in teaching, research and industry leadership.
Dr. Downey developed the first agricultural sales and marketing program in the United States, impacting over 10,000 students and influencing agribusiness education across more than 80 institutions.
The video highlights Dr. Downey's pioneering achievements, which laid the foundation for Purdue's widely respected sales and marketing program and the Center for Food and Agricultural Business. Contributions to the endowed chair will ensure the program's longevity, helping to attract and retain top faculty who will guide the next generation of agricultural leaders. Additionally, the chair will fund research in farmer decision-making, sales processes and marketing strategies-- fields that Dr. Downey pioneered.
