PURDUE ISSUES A REPORT ABOUT THE RISING THREAT OF CYBERATTACKS ON AGRIBUSINESS
Source: by Dr. Trey Malone, Boehlje Chair in Managerial Economics for Agribusiness, Purdue University

West Lafayette, IN -- The increasing digitization of agribusiness has brought unprecedented efficiency and connectivity to supply chains, but it has also introduced a growing and often underestimated threat: cyberattacks.

With agriculture ranking as the seventh most targeted industry for ransomware attacks in 2023, the risks are escalating - affecting operations, supply chains and financial stability.

In our latest blog, Dr. Trey Malone, Boehlje Chair in Managerial Economics for Agribusiness, breaks down the vulnerabilities agribusinesses face and shares strategies to strengthen cybersecurity.

Here are a few proactive steps he encourages agribusinesses to take:

Upgrade security firewalls, encryption, and network monitoring.

Implement Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) for added protection.

Conduct regular security audits to identify vulnerabilities.

Train employees to spot phishing and other cyber risks.

Develop an incident response plan to minimize disruptions.

Secure supply chain partners with strong cybersecurity practices.

Use blockchain and AI for threat detection and data security.

Participate in industry and government initiatives.
