COUNCIL OF PRODUCERS & DISTRIBUTORS OF AGROTECHNOLOGY APPLAUDS EPA’S REORGANIZATION EFFORTS
Source: Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology news release

The Council of Producers and Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA), as a member of the PRIA Coalition, commends the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for its recent steps to strengthen the Office of Chemical Safety and Pollution Prevention (OCSPP) and expand staffing within the Office of Pesticide Programs (OPP).

The PRIA Coalition has issued a letter to EPA Administrator Lee Zeldin, applauding the agency's reorganization and its potential to address the more than 12,000 pesticide reviews that are currently beyond statutory timelines. The Coalition, including CPDA, emphasized that these reforms are essential to improving regulatory efficiency, transparency, and science-based decision-making.

"The addition of more than 130 new staff to OCSPP, including critical support for pesticide registration reviews, is a welcomed step," said Terry Kippley, President and CEO of CPDA. "We look forward to seeing these changes translate into faster, more predictable regulatory timelines that serve both growers and public health professionals."

The letter also urges EPA to move swiftly on PRIA V implementation measures--most notably, the independent workforce and process assessment and the launch of a training grant program to strengthen OPP's scientific and technical capabilities. CPDA has long advocated for consistent, science-based regulatory outcomes and will continue working with EPA and Congress to ensure that OPP receives the minimum $166 million annual funding required under PRIA.

"CPDA remains committed to a transparent and fully resourced pesticide registration process that protects human health, the environment, and agricultural productivity," added Kippley.

About CPDA

The Council of Producers & Distributors of Agrotechnology (CPDA) is the premier advocate for agricultural adjuvant and inert ingredient suppliers. The CPDA also provides legislative and regulatory support to formulators, distributors and manufacturers of post patent pesticide products and biorationals. CPDA members produce and sell tank-mix adjuvants, inert ingredients, pesticides and other agrotechnology products across the U.S. and range in size from small businesses to large, publicly traded companies.
