FARM RESCUE'S GROWTH TO MEET RISING DEMAND

The interim executive director of Farm Rescue says he's excited about the direction of the organization.
Tim Sullivan, who's served as the non-profit's executive director for the past five years, says the hiring of Shari Rogge-Fidler to take over as director on July 1st is a sign of growth.
"I've always played a dual role as the major fundraiser and also the executive director, so now we've hired a new executive director and I'm very excited about that." He says, "I am going nowhere. I'm staying as part of the fundraising crew, but I'm coming to a point where I want to slow down a little bit."
He tells Brownfield those fundraising efforts are becoming increasingly important as more farm families are reaching out for assistance during times of crisis.
"That crisis could look like a natural disaster, like a storm or wildfire or flood, or it can look like a cancer diagnosis or a heart attack." He says, "So, we serve those families to protect their livelihood."
Sullivan says the organization just recently helped its 1,300th family since being founded in 2005. Farm Rescue provides free planting, haying, harvesting, commodity hauling, and livestock feeding assistance to farm and ranch families facing unexpected hardships in its 11-state service area.
