STATE OF INDIANA ISSUES ANTIQUE TRACTOR PRESERVATION DAY PROCLAMATION

Source: Let's Talk Tractors news release

HUTCHINSON, Kan. -- Indiana Governor Mike Braun, the 52nd Governor of Indiana, has officially proclaimed July 31, 2026, as Antique Tractor Preservation Day joining states Kansas, Nebraska, & Illinois in recognizing the importance of preserving America's agricultural heritage.

The proclamation honors generations of Hoosier farmers whose dedication, innovation, and hard work helped establish Indiana as one of the nation's leading agricultural states. It recognizes antique tractors and historic farm equipment as enduring symbols of the ingenuity, perseverance, and values that continue to define rural communities and American agriculture.

Antique Tractor Preservation Day also aligns with the nationwide America 250 celebration, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Preserving and showcasing the tractors, implements, and machinery that helped feed and build America provides a meaningful way to honor the nation's agricultural legacy as communities across the country celebrate this historic milestone.

The national initiative was founded by Michael Hinton, a 2025 National Agricultural Hall of Fame Inductee, Founder of National Antique Tractor Preservation Day, Creator of TalkingTractors.com, and widely recognized as America's Antique Tractor Ambassador. Hinton has dedicated more than 17 years to preserving and promoting America's agricultural heritage, becoming one of the nation's foremost advocates for antique tractors and the farm families whose innovation, determination, and stewardship helped shape rural America.

What began as a personal passion has evolved into a nationally recognized observance that celebrates not only historic tractors and equipment, but also the people, communities, and values that built American agriculture. Through Hinton's leadership, National Antique Tractor Preservation Day has become an annual opportunity to recognize the vital role antique tractors continue to play in preserving the nation's farming history and educating future generations.

In 2024, Hinton expanded that mission with the launch of TalkingTractors.com, a national educational and community-driven platform dedicated to connecting farmers, collectors, restorers, museums, historians, educators, and antique tractor enthusiasts. The website serves as a living resource for preserving agricultural history, sharing stories, and inspiring future generations to appreciate the remarkable role antique tractors have played in feeding America and shaping the nation's rural landscape.
