Aug. 10, 2026 by Margy Eckelkamp, The Scoop magazine Bayer is changing its go-to-market approach for branded crop protection and seed products, with Simplot Grower Solutions set to exit distribution and retail sales of Bayer-branded products beginning with the 2027 season. "As farmers' needs continue to shift, Bayer actively works with our dealer network to ensure we collectively provide the value customers deserve," a Bayer spokesperson said. "Bayer's relationship with Simplot will be evolving beginning with the 2027 season. We look to continue working with Simplot in new ways moving forward." In response to the news, a Simplot spokesperson said the company had no comment on Bayer's decision to change its go-to-market strategy. It is understood that Simplot's Innvictis seed line will continue to have licensing access to Bayer Corn States genetics. Simplot Grower Solutions operates across a broad geography, with legacy strength in the West and Pacific Northwest and a much larger Southern and Southeastern presence following its acquisition of Pinnacle Agriculture. That deal expanded Simplot into important row-crop regions across the Delta, Mid-South and Southeast, complementing its established business in Western irrigated and specialty-crop markets. Bayer emphasized that dealers remain an important part of its distribution strategy. To read the entire article click here. BAYER SEEDS WILL NOT BE SOLD BY WINFIELD SOLUTIONS By Margy Eckelkamp, The Scoop magazine Bayer branded seed will no longer be sold through the WinField United distribution model after Crop Year 2027, according to a July letter sent to WinField United retailers by Leah Anderson, president of WinField United and senior vice president at Land O'Lakes, Inc. Bayer also confirmed the news. The change does not include Bayer branded crop protection products. "We recognize this is a meaningful change for your business, and we are committed to helping you navigate the transition through clear communication, practical planning support and portfolio solutions that help protect your grower relationships and seed business," Anderson wrote. Through the Croplan and Armor seed brands, WinField United will continue to work with Bayer and a licensing partner of Bayer traits and genetics. In a statement, Bayer said: "Distribution remains a critical part of our business, and our success. As Bayer evolves its go-to-market model to continue delivering industry-leading innovation to farmers, it will be changing its business relationship with WinField United. While in Market Year 2027 our relationship will remain the same, beginning in Market Year 2028, Bayer will be evolving its relationship with WinField United on DEKALB, Asgrow and Deltapine seed distribution. WinField United remains an important partner in our seed licensee and Crop Protection space as we work to provide best in class solutions to farmers. For farmers, nothing changes.
