IOWA IS NOW THE "STEEL" STATE
Agri-Pulse reports:

President Trump says Iowa is getting one of the biggest steel mills in U.S. history.

Mesabi Metallics, a Minnesota-based steel company, will build a $15 billion plant in the Hawkeye State, adding 1,750 permanent Iowa jobs and an estimated $95 billion to the U.S. economy over the next decade, according to the White House.

The steel plant will "be mined, melted and made right here in the USA," Trump said Monday from the Oval Office, alongside Cabinet members, company executives and Iowa lawmakers.

Trump also said Essar Group, the Indian multinational conglomerate that owns Mesabi Metallics, is investing a total of $18 billion in the U.S.
"Everyone's building their plants here because they don't want to pay tariffs," Trump said.

Iowa steel: The mill will produce 7.5 million tons of steel a year in its first phase, increasing to about 10 million tons, using iron ore from Mesabi Metallics' newly opened Minnesota mine -- the first new iron ore mine in the U.S. in 50 years, according to the White House.

Two Iowa Republicans in tough midterm election campaigns participated in the White House event with Trump -- Rep. Mariannette Miller-Meeks, who is up for reelection, and Rep. Ashley Hinson, who is running for an open U.S. Senate seat. Both races are rated "Toss Up" by the nonpartisan Cook Political Report with Amy Walter.

Trump told Hinson he will visit Iowa soon to rally for her and other Republicans ahead of the Nov. 3 elections.
