PRESIDENT TRUMP ISSUES ORDER TO BRING DOWN PRICE OF DIESEL
Agri-Pulse reports:

With the elections looming and diesel prices at historic highs, President Donald Trump issued an order on Monday night that's aimed at bringing down diesel costs that are bedeviling farmers and threatening a surge in food inflation.

At a political rally in Nebraska, Trump signed an order to temporarily allow tax-free, off-road diesel to be used on U.S. highways and defer the applicable federal excise tax on the diesel, or 24.4 cents per gallon.

"The typical trucker will save over $100 every time they fill up," Trump said. "Farmers will also save millions and millions of dollars."

The move also will bring down costs of groceries and all goods, he said.

At least 10 states have taken action to allow tax-free diesel that's typically reserved for farming and other off-road applications, to be used on highways. The fuel is the same as standard diesel, except dyed red to ensure compliance with the law.
