NEW U.S. CROP PROTECTION MANUFACTURER VIRITERRA LAUNCHES PERSEUS HERBICIDE

Source: Viriterra Inc. news release

RALEIGH, N.C. -- Viriterra Inc., a new American crop protection company, is introducing Perseus SC herbicide, its first product for the U.S. market. The launch gives agricultural retailers and distributors a new source of pyroxasulfone for residual weed control in corn, soybean, wheat and other labeled crops.

Headquartered in Raleigh, North Carolina, Viriterra is a vertically integrated basic manufacturer. The company produces pyroxasulfone at commercial scale rather than purchasing the active ingredient for resale. It is supported by three manufacturing plants and more than 300 people across those operations.

"Distributors need to know who stands behind a product and who to call when they have a question," said Jeff Tweedy, president and general manager of Viriterra. "With Perseus SC, they're working with the manufacturer. We produce pyroxasulfone using a non-infringing process and give distributors direct access to our commercial and technical team. We want to earn their business with dependable supply and people they can reach."

Perseus SC is a Group 15 herbicide formulated as a liquid suspension concentrate. It provides residual control or suppression of labeled annual grasses, sedges and broadleaf weeds, including Palmer amaranth, waterhemp and foxtail species. Labeled uses include preplant and preemergence applications; rates, timing and weed spectrum vary by crop and use pattern.

"Growers dealing with difficult weeds like Palmer amaranth and waterhemp need residual control to be part of the plan," said David Davies, head of marketing and research at Viriterra. "Perseus SC uses established pyroxasulfone chemistry. We're here to help advisers review the field data and evaluate where it fits."

2025 field trial results are available on the Viriterra website, organized by trial, weed species and evaluation date.

"We want Viriterra to become a supplier that distributors know and count on," said Jean Wang, chief executive officer of Viriterra. "Perseus SC is where we begin. As we add products, we'll focus on what the industry needs and what we can reliably supply."

Viriterra is developing additional herbicides and fungicides for the U.S. market, with launches planned through 2031, subject to regulatory approval.

Retailers and distributors can contact Viriterra at viriterrainc.com/contact. Product information, the label, safety data sheet and selected field trial results are available at viriterrainc.com/perseus-sc.
