Nov. 3, 2026 Source: Foresight Agronomics news release Paducah, KY -- Foresight Agronomics today released the 2025 Biostimulant Benchmark Report Series, a six-report study comparing how corn responded to 15 commercial biostimulants at the gene level. Built for crop biological manufacturers and retailers, the series uses RNA sequencing (RNA-seq) to show how each product changed gene expression in the plant, and what those changes could mean for product development, positioning and field trial design. Each product was applied to V4 corn once as a foliar treatment. Researchers then measured gene expression in the leaves on day 3 and day 14 and compared it with a water control. Foresight Agronomics facilitated and ran the study. "We started with one simple question: what does a plant think when we put a product on it?" said Layne Ellen Harris, Ph.D., plant molecular biologist and founder of Foresight Agronomics. "Biostimulants are hard to research, and most comparisons stop at whether something changed by harvest. This series looks inside the plant to show how each product was working in the plant during the study, so manufacturers and researchers can make decisions with better information." The series includes five reports on major areas of plant function and a sixth report that turns the findings into commercial considerations: Growth & Metabolism: five growth and carbon pathways Nutrition: uptake and use genes for nine nutrients Abiotic Stress: heat, drought, light and salinity response genes, measured before any stress was applied Biotic Stress: five defense pathways, plus disease management scenarios for eight U.S. crops Hormones & Signaling: nine hormone systems Commercial Playbook: Product profiles, scenarios, and commercial guidance "These reports are heavily commercial-oriented, and written so you don't need a Ph.D. to understand what we're saying. Each report focuses on interpretation and application of the results for agronomic and commercial use. These reports show how each product acted at the gene level in this study, which can help inform how products are positioned and tested in the field," said Harris. The reports are available now as individual reports or as the full series. Pricing is available on request. Organizations can request the table of contents, sample pages, and a sample product profile athttps://www.foresightagronomics.com/reports. Foresight Agronomics is also enrolling companies in its January 2027 group benchmark study, which will measure the gene-expression response to participants' own products. Each participant receives their own individual report. Seats are limited, and enrollment closes December 5. About Foresight Agronomics Foresight Agronomics helps the agriculture industry understand how biological products perform in the field, in the plant and for the grower. Founded by plant molecular biologist Layne Ellen Harris, Ph.D., the company uses molecular biology and genomics, including transcriptomic analysis, to explain how crops respond to biologicals. It offers genomics integration, research strategy, and teaching and speaking services. Learn more at foresightagronomics.com. Tweet |
