DOW CHEMICAL CREATES NEW VP OF MARKETING POSITION
Source: PRNewswire-FirstCall

In a move tied to its expansion into Performance businesses, The Dow Chemical Company (NYSE: DOW) has named Pam Butcher to the newly created position of vice president of Marketing. She currently is business vice president of Dow's Specialty Chemicals portfolio.

The appointment was announced by Romeo Kreinberg, executive vice president of Performance Plastics and Chemicals, who also has executive oversight responsibility for Dow's Corporate Marketing and Sales organization.

According to the Company, the sharper focus on Marketing is part of Dow's overall strategy to accelerate a portfolio shift to Performance businesses and to improve earnings consistency and growth.

"As Dow's Performance businesses continue to grow, we also are expanding our Marketing capabilities," Kreinberg said. "Pam brings more than 25 years of business expertise, proven results, energy and outstanding leadership skills. She is ideally suited to establish and lead the marketing culture and organization needed within Dow to deliver on our strategy."

Butcher joined Dow in 1980 and has held a variety of leadership positions in sales, marketing, customer service, and business management. She was named a business director for Performance Chemicals in 1994. Butcher assumed additional business responsibility and by 1999 was leading a portfolio of Performance businesses. In 2000, she was named business director for Dow's Chlorinated Organics business. In 2004, Butcher was appointed vice president of Specialty Chemicals, a $3 billion business portfolio within Dow's Performance Plastics and Chemicals organization.

She is a recipient of Dow's Genesis Award for people excellence, which is the Company's highest recognition for people leadership. Also an active leader in the chemical industry, Butcher is president of the board of trustees for the Chemical Educational Foundation (CEF) and serves as a member of the board of directors of the Soap & Detergent Association (SDA).

Butcher earned bachelor's and master's degrees in science from Purdue University. She also is a graduate of the Northwestern University Marketing Executive program and has participated in the Prince of Wales Sustainability Conference and the Asian Master Class on Asian Business and Culture.
