Dec. 11, 2006 Source: Informa Economics news release A reorganization, effective January 1, 2007, of Informa Economics, Inc. (Informa), Memphis, TN, was announced today by the firm's Chairman of the Board and CEO Bruce Scherr. According to Scherr, "Informa has reorganized to achieve further growth in its core business areas of agriculture, food, renewable fuels and energy with economic and business research, information and consulting." He added that "recent developments in the energy and the renewable fuels sector have dramatically changed the landscape for agriculture and food and, as such, Informa has established devoted business activities to meet current and future business opportunities and challenges." In the reorganization, Thomas Scott was named President. Scott has been with the company for 17 years, most recently as head of the Informa Economics' Memphis-based Project Consulting Group. His specialized work has included business strategy, agribusiness economic development, feasibility and site selection work, as well as various market analyses. In addition to work in North America, Scott has extensive experience in the agribusiness sectors of Central Europe, Southeast Asia and South America. Prior to joining the company, he had various assignments in management, trading, logistics and merchandising with Continental Grain Company. He received his bachelor's degree in agricultural economics and business from Cornell University and a master's degree in business administration from the Amos Tuck School of Business Administration at Dartmouth College where he was an Amos Tuck Scholar. Scott indicated that "this new company structure will enable Informa to continue to serve its core client base with the most up-to-date research and enhance the hands-on service provided to our hundreds of clients worldwide. Moreover, the project consulting business of Informa has grown dramatically in recent years and this new structure will enable the firm to meet the more diversified needs and opportunities of a very broad range of clients in all of our business areas with strategic consulting, financial consulting, site location and feasibility studies as well as our more traditional market studies and general business, policy and economic development consulting." Scherr expressed further that "the firm will continue to expand its core information services, conferences, training programs and publications business areas as well via this new organization." Scherr also announced the following promotions to Executive Vice President: Richard Andersen, who is co-executive responsible for Informa's Livestock, Meat, Poultry and Dairy activities, and William Motes, who is co-executive manager of Informa's Washington office. Scherr also promoted the following to Senior Vice Presidents: James Allwood, Energy Consulting leader; Brad Anderson, co-executive of Informa's Crops Group; Ken Eriksen, Informa's Transportation and Logistics Services leader; Mark Jekanowski, as co-executive responsible for Informa's Washington office; Rob Murphy, co-executive of the Livestock, Meat, Poultry and Dairy Group; Scott Richman, Commercial Consulting leader; and Juan Sacoto, as Informa's Financial Consulting leader. In addition, Jeremy Scherr was named Director of Publishing to work on further development and expansion of Informa's newsletters and the Informa Information Store. Tweet |
