Nov. 29, 2010 National 4-H Council reports: New York Life Foundation Presented Crystal Clover Award The National 4-H Council Board of Trustees has awarded the New York Life Foundation with the prestigious Crystal Clover Award, recognizing the company for its continued support of the 4-H movement. Over the last five years, New York Life (NYL) Foundation has supported the creation of 150 4-H clubs in urban areas, opening the door for more than 3,000 youth throughout Atlanta, Cleveland, Minneapolis and New York City. The award recognizes the organization's reach of new audiences and its significant impact on young people. Through their support, NYL Youth in Governance 4-H clubs have gained leadership and citizenship skills through 4-H's Citizenship Washington Focus program, presented youth anti-violence plans to Nobel Peace Prize Laureates, lobbied state capitols on education requirements, and addressed global food issues with Nobel and World Food Prize Laureates. "4-H has exposed me to many great opportunities," said Lazarus Lynch, member of the NYL Youth in Governance 4-H club in New York. "Thanks New York Life for supporting 4-H to make my dreams a reality." Lynch attended the Global Youth Institute in Des Moines, where he presented his research on global food security. New York Life was presented the Crystal Clover Award at The Ohio State University in Columbus, recognizing the support of the thousands of 4-H youth who are making a difference in their communities, and the world.
