Dec. 2, 2011 Source: Farmers National Co news release Farmers National Company of Omaha, Neb., has announced the purchase of Alerus Financial's land appraisal and farm management services business. In addition, Farmers National has purchased the real estate sales functions and responsibilities of affiliated Botsford Qualey Land Company. The acquisition will expand Farmers National Company's service offerings in North Dakota as well as Northwest Minnesota. Farmers National Company will acquire offices in Grand Forks and Fargo, N.D., and retain existing employees and real estate associates in these markets. "We believe it's important for customers to continue to work with local staff, while taking advantage of our Farmers National Company's national resources and offerings," said Jim Farrell, Farmers National Company President & CEO. Further expansion into this region is a significant step for Farmers National Company, according to Farrell. "We are very excited about these transactions and the opportunity to expand our presence in North Dakota and Northwest Minnesota with offices in the Red River Valley."
