Dec. 29, 2011 Source: Penton Media Agricultural Group news release Kurt Lawton has been named editor of Corn & Soybean Digest magazine and cornandsoybeandigest.com, the premiere Web site for the corn and soybean market, announced Forrest Laws, Director of Content for the Penton Media Agricultural Group. Lawton is a former editor of Farm Industry News, a sister publication to Corn & Soybean Digest. He left Farm Industry News in 2000 to help with a dot.com startup called Rooster.com. He owned his own consulting and free lance writing business from 2001 to 2011. He is currently Crops Technology editor for Progressive Farmer/Telvent. "Kurt brings a wealth of print and online editorial experience to Corn and Soybean Digest," said Laws. "He has been writing about corn and soybean producers and new technology for most of his career and knows agriculture inside and out." Lawton grew up on a grain and livestock farm near Jefferson, Iowa, and is a graduate of Iowa State University. He began his career in public relations and switched to ag journalism to join the staff of Farm Industry News in 1985.
