PFIZER LIKELY TO SPIN OFF ITS ANIMAL HEALTH UNIT Mar. 13, 2012
Source: Agri Marketing magazine
Reuters reports that Pfizer CEO Ian Read said the company is "more likely to spin off its animal health unit than conduct an outright sale."
"It's the largest animal health business and it would stand alone as an individual company," said Read. "There's huge interest among investors to own a company like that."
Financial Times reported that Bayer has submitted a preliminary bid for the business.
Pfizer turned down a $16 billion offer from Novartis last week according to the Wall Street Journal.
