Oct. 26, 2012 Source: Farm Journal Foundation news release Today the Farm Journal Foundation announced the upcoming 2012 Farm Journal Forum, a key opportunity to gather policymakers and decision makers in agriculture soon after the election. The prestigious event will be held December 5-6 at the Washington Marriott Metro Center, 775 12th Street NW, Washington, D.C. The goal of the 14th Forum, hosted in partnership with Informa Economics, is to offer intelligent discussion and insight relative to critical food and farming issues and, through that discussion, to foster education and more enlightened decisions on U.S. food, agricultural and environmental policies. In keeping with this goal, the Forum's policy dialogue will focus on "The Election's Impact on Modern Agriculture's Ability to Feed the World." The event will begin with an evening reception on Wednesday and kick off Thursday with a newsmaker breakfast followed by a full day of high-level speakers. Invited speakers include Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and House Agriculture Committee Chairman Frank Lucas. Confirmed to address the group are Bruce Scherr and Jim Wiesemeyer of Informa Economics; Roger Thurow, author of The Last Hunger Season: A Year in an African Farm Community on the Brink of Change and co-author of Enough: Why the World's Poorest Starve in an Age of Plenty; Bruce Knight, president of Strategic Conservation Solutions and former National Resources Conservation Service Administrator; and Randy Van Kooten, Iowa farmer and World Soy Foundation board member. The Farm Journal Forum is one of the premier food and agriculture policy conferences in the nation's capital. Founded in 1997 by the late Sonja Hilgren, the event remains a gathering where leading agribusiness executives, farmers, financiers and government leaders meet to learn about and discuss emerging issues, agricultural policies, food security, national trends and international markets. "The Farm Journal Forum will provide an environment that fosters an understanding of how the U.S. election will impact our ability to feed the world and aggressively diminish the number of people who go to bed hungry each night," said Charlene Finck, president of the Farm Journal Foundation.
