Oct. 26, 2012 Source: Meierhoffer Funeral Home & Crematory Rod Fletcher, 85, St. Joseph, Missouri died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Living Community. He was born July 20, 1927 to Leo W. and Ellen S. (Blanchard) Fletcher in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was a graduate of Central High School then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he earned an Ag Journalism degree. He married Anne M. Miles. Mr. Fletcher served in the United States Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946 during WWII. He was the President and Chairman of the Board for Fletcher/Mayo/Associates where he retired in 1984. Rod was a member of: St. Joseph Lodge #78 A.F. and A.M., York Rite Bodies, Moila Shrine, Royal Order of Jesters Court #98; American Legion, B.P.O.E (Elks)Lodge #40; Benton Club; St. Joseph Country Club; Phi Gamma Delta social fraternity; Sigma Delta Chi, professional journalism fraternity; formerly a member of the Board of Directors of: St. Joseph Area Chamber of Commerce and Industrial Development Commission of the Chamber; campaign chairman for United Way of Greater St. Joseph; Salvation Army; Family Guidance; Community Welfare Council; District Board of Junior Achievement; YMCA; YWCA; and Girl Scouts of America; Former Chairman of Parks and Recreation Commission for the City of St. Joseph; Past National President of National Agriculture Marketing Association; member of Client Relations Committee and Past Governor of the Association of Advertising Agencies. He was preceded in death by his parents; and grandson, Roderick William Fletcher II. Survivors: his wife, Anne Miles Fletcher, of the home; sons, William Andrew Fletcher II (Amy), Omaha, Nebraska and John M. Fletcher, St. Joseph; grandchildren, Jackson, William and Claire; sister, Jane E. Foote, Hastings, Nebraska; and several nieces and nephews. Tweet |
