FARMERS FEEDING THE WORLD RECORDS $2.1 MILLION FROM FARM JOURNAL MEDIA
Source: Farm Journal Foundation news release

The Farm Journal Foundation's Farmers Feeding the World initiative announced today that it has recorded $2.1 million in cash support from Farm Journal Media.

This will help advance the nonprofit's mission to fight hunger and educate consumers about modern agriculture's role in feeding a hungry world. "Farm Journal has a 137-year-old history of advocating for agriculture," said Andy Weber, CEO of Farm Journal Media.

"Like farmers, we believe we have both the ability and a responsibility to make sure children and families don't go to bed hungry each night. Our dedication to the success of the Farmers Feeding the World initiative is a powerful way to lead by example as we rally producers, agribusinesses and organizations to join together in meeting two goals: helping the hungry through agricultural development and assistance, and standing up for farmers' freedom to operate."

Other companies and organizations that support Farmers Feeding the World include DuPont Crop Protection, Howard G. Buffett Foundation, Farm Credit Systems, Growmark, Syngenta, BASF, Dow Agrosciences, FMC, CropLife America and Charleston|Orwig. In addition, hundreds of farmers have donated to the nonprofit effort that draws its strength from a grassroots base.

The generosity of donors has made it possible for Farmers Feeding the World to put its mission into action through a $1 million commitment to Heifer International; the launch of the inaugural Hunger U Tour that visited seven college campuses and the National FFA Convention; the funding of two $500,000 grant programs to FFA chapters across the country; events hosted at the World Food Prize; the Farm Journal Forum; face-to-face meetings with policymakers; and hosting an Ag Briefing on Capitol Hill in partnership with the Alliance to End Hunger.
