Source: World Food Prize
The World Food Prize will send a record number of Borlaug-Ruan International Interns abroad this summer. Twenty-two high school students from Iowa, California, Colorado, Kentucky, Minnesota, Nebraska, New York, North Dakota, Ohio and Texas will embark on 8-week, all-expenses-paid internships at international research centers over the next few weeks. They will be assigned to locations around the globe in Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Middle East. "It is our hope that by engaging these young people in actual hunger-fighting research, they will be inspired to pursue academic and career paths in science, food, agricultural and natural resource disciplines, and thus prepared to become tomorrow's innovative scientific and humanitarian leaders," said Amb. Kenneth M. Quinn, President of the World Food Prize.
